Spring time is the best time to dethatch the lawn in Iowa. If your lawn feels "spongy" in the Spring. Or if there are a lot of dead or brown areas, prior disease or insect problems. It may be time to dethatch the lawn. Thatch is the layer of both dead and living shoots, stems and roots that accumulate just above the soil surface. Their can be several reasons why your thatch layer may be building up, your dedicated lawn technician will help address these so corrective action can be taken.

 Grub Control

Japanese Beetle larva and Northern Masket Chaffer larva. Generally in Iowa we see two lawn and landscape destructive pests. They closely resemble each other as "grubs" that hatch from eggs laid in the lawn around July-August. They live for only one season eating organic matter and turf roots in the lawn. The following season the grubs will molt and crawl out of the soil to take flight to devour plant material such as Maple, Birch, Linden, and Rose leaves.

We offer a Grub Preventer that we guarantee until the end of the season for your lawn. If adult beetles are seen in your landscape, act quickly to have Simply-Green treat your landscape plantings before they are completely defoliated.

Fall Aeration

Aerating your lawn has been noted by many experts to be the best thing you can do for your lawn. Aerating your lawn will help with thatch break down, and loosen soil for increased root growth and disease resistance, and is especially helpful when over seeding the lawn.
